Progress update 2 (first days of freedom)
Heya folks!
Been a while, hasn't it. WIth university going on, I also sliiiiightly neglected posting here, hence I missed a few small progress update posts. Anyway...
Lets get straight down to business.
First off, Uni. I am proud to say that I passed more or less everything (waiting STILL for results on one course, but I am pretty sure I passed that one too). That means, I finished this academic year, and I fulfilled the initial plan of doing it without any extra exams. So yay me 🤯
That means I am almost completely free this summer, and I can work on the game. And it has already begun, that faster work speed. So lets get to that next. Before I begin, I put the image above showcasing the progress. It's my first time doing an image report, so it looks quite bland and some stuff is naturally hard to gauge. Explanations below.
Dialogue:
The last 2 weeks was me with my freedom. Naturally, took a few days to both rest and do stuff that pilled up due to delaying them for later, but the latter half of the first week, and especially this second week were heavy with dialogue writing. How much? 2000 lines. Compared to the abysmal ~1200 I had before the Finals break, this should give at least some indication how much free time can help. This brings the total to roughly 3200 new lines of dialogue, which is already roughly how much ep1 or ep2 had. Meaning, the length of the episode should be roughly the same as either of the two last episodes.
*note: I am still pondering where exactly I want to end episode 3 due to certain reasons, so that might influence the length if I slightly increase it. The extension wouldn't be big though.
World setup:
Finding suitable maps, creating my own, outfits for characters, scene ideas and so forth. This goes in this tab. The main map (hotel) has been more or less complete, just 2 rooms remaining. Outfits for all the main (and quite a few npcs) has been created for the hotel stage. Remaining work is finishing those 2 rooms + stuff for the days after party.
Renders:
Self explanatory, renders/images/animations. No work yet, will be starting in the upcoming 2 weeks (first was dialogue on the menu).
Menus/Music:
Making the game menu screen, finding music, sounds, implementing and so forth. Besides few songs bookmarked, no progress yet.
Beta testing:
Essentially beta testing and proofreading. Comes last, so naturally no progress. And there you have it! The last ~10 days were spend on writing 2k dialogue and some more work on the world setup. I am absolutely aware how slow ep3 progress has been so far, and with this first proper progress update, I hope I can continue the speed onwards. Thanks you everyone for your patience, and I really hope I at least redeemed the trust by finishing this academic year all in first attempt. 🤓 See ya in the next progress update in 2 weeks!
